Complications

The last few days have been up and down for EmyG. She has had low platelets, low blood pressure, elevated CRP, and elevated WBCs. She was not responding to vasopressors or bolus fluid. The doctors could not find a source of infection, but with that clinical picture, they decided to treat her with antibiotics. Now that she has antibiotics in her system, her blood pressures have become more stable. Please pray that her infection resolves.

The doctors are not sure why her platelets continue to be low. The hematologist is currently investigating this issue. Additionally, she has some immature white blood cells in her blood which shouldn’t be there. Please pray that the doctors are able to find clarity regarding her blood issues.

This morning, the CRRT machine shut down again. This caused Emy’s blood pressure to drop. Please pray that Emy’s blood pressure returns to normal. Please continue to pray for the doctors, nurses, and other health professionals who are taking care of her, that they are vigilant, caring, thoughtful, discerning, and loving.

  1. I notice that when I read an update, I take a respectful pause. Selah. A time to reflect and lift Emy in prayer and invite healing and strength and peace for her. Then, it takes some time before I am ready to respond or post my thoughts. Today, I was reminded to acknowledge what EmyG’s parents are doing and experiencing. Most of us cannot identify with your experience. It is nothing like what Greg and I experienced as new parents. Your situation is unique. There is no question as to what a blessing and a miracle Emy is in your life. Just as it is no question as to how blessed she is to have you as parents. I am now taking a respectful pause for you, Ezra and Rebekah. Selah. May you be lifted in pray and welcome in the strength and peace it takes to ride these waves. It is always there, but sometimes it is good to take a pause and breath it in…Selah. You and EmyG are unique, but you are not alone.

    1. Hi Deanna, thank you so much for the encouragement. We are so thankful for Emy G. It is a very unique experience. We are thankful to have backgrounds in science so we can better understand what our daughter is facing and how to best advocate for her. It’s not easy to manage the heartache we experience when something goes wrong. We rest in God. He is with us.

Thank you for your support and encouragement as we face each challenge.
